ABOUT Jerry.
My journey in drywall started close to home, learning the trade from family. Those early days laid the foundation for a career that took me from bustling commercial sites and union jobs in Las Vegas and Portland to the heart of residential remodeling. It was in remodeling that I found my passion—a niche that demands precision, creativity, and adaptability far beyond standard production work.
When the 2009-2010 recession hit, I saw an opportunity to grow. I enrolled at Heald College for a two-year project management program that changed how I approached my work. The small classes, led by seasoned contractors and architects, gave me a front-row seat to real-world insights. I learned to read blueprints like a pro, write polished emails, master accounting basics, and navigate software with confidence.
That education was a game-changer. It wasn’t just about drywall—it taught me how to think like a professional, communicate clearly, and run a business with purpose.
Before launching my own company, I worked as a project manager and quality control specialist for a large drywall firm. Managing massive projects and ensuring top-notch quality taught me the ins and outs of the industry. It also opened my eyes to what I wanted to do differently—build a business that prioritizes craftsmanship and accountability over cutting corners, and I found the perfect place to deliver that level of service and quality in the custom remodel world.
On February 12, 2012, J.R. Brewer Drywall was born. I started solo, hustling as a one-man show, posting ads on Craigslist, and chasing every lead. Each job was a chance to prove myself, and I poured my heart and soul into every project.
Growth didn’t happen overnight. I brought on my retired uncle for part-time help, then reconnected with trusted colleagues like Mike. Slowly, I built a team of skilled professionals and forged ties with top contractors. Thirteen years on and we’ve built up to a crew of 16, delivering quality work that speaks for itself.
My philosophy is simple: stay involved, but empower your team. I’m still hands-on—guiding projects, checking quality, even running payroll—because I believe great work starts with leadership that cares. Early on, I tried to do it all, but burning out taught me to delegate strategically. By studying successful businesses, I learned to define roles clearly while keeping a close eye on what matters most: quality and trust.
We know the headaches contractors face with unreliable subcontractors. That’s why we’re built on three pillars: reliability, quality, and professionalism. It’s why trusted names like Tankersley Construction, MAK Design Build, Bill Carter Company, Bradley Builders, NAR Design, Heirloom Builders and more choose us as partners.
If you’re looking for a reliability, quality and unbeatable customer service, we’d love to connect with you and show you first-hand the difference working with us can make to your project, and your company.
